St. Louis Browns, 1888

The “world beaters,” as the legend on the cabinet card proclaimed, were American Association champions four years running and winners of the World Series in 1886 and 1887. Notable players included Hall of Famer Charlie Comiskey, rowdy Arlie Latham, Tip O’Neill (who in 1887, when walks counted as hits, batted.485), and Egyptian Healy, owner of the greyhounds in the foreground.
